I had been looking at the amount of money stripped from my hard earned lot. It occured to me, though I didn't pay much attention in school, I did remember some of the reasons behind the American Revolution. I knew that one of them was taxes.

Thus began my quest for the true soul that is The American Experiment. When our Forefathers came to this fertile land they were primarily searching for religious freedom, since the Anglican Church of England was a tyranical institution. This was in the 16th century and from that point to this much has happened to subvert and spawn freedom.

The best person in the world to decide what you should do on a daily basis is you. The best source of information on who you are and how you should live your life is you. This is the crux of The Experiment. That Government should stay out of your home, your pocket, your life, was the central theme of this new hybrid government The Federal Republic.

You have so much more potential than you give yourself credit for.It is the essence of Americanism to go out into the world in a responsible fassion and pursue that which is in your heart and soul and to be the better person that you can be.

1963 COMMUNIST GOALS FOR AMERICA

EXTENSION OF REMARKS OF HON. A. S. HERLONG, JR. OF FL IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Entered into the Congressional Record--Appendix, pp. A34-A35 ._1. on Thursday, January 10, 1963

Mr. HERLONG [said:]_a.. "Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.

At Mrs. Nordman's request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following "Current Communist Goals," which she identifies as an excerpt from "The Naked Communist," by Cleon Skousen:.

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war. [Some of these goals have become policy.]

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war. [Surrendering without a fight]

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament of the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites. [Use our own taxes to achieve these self-destructive goals!]

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev's promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the US has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths. [ Judges (#16) and elected officials (#15) who destroy the Constitution can be charged with perjury but after that the only charge left is treason.]

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office. [surrender US ingenuity & void all protections.]

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States. [ These Congressmen, McCain(R-AR) Feingold(D-WI); Shays(R-CT) Meehan (D-MA), & their advisors via campaign finance reform would cripple the 1st Amendment's free speech & undermine the US Constitution!] [ 40,000,000 abortions have killed more American children than all wars combined!]

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights. [The 'technical' civil rights of a student minority of one! see (#28)][Everson has been cited in 6000 cases since 1947!]

17. Get control of the schools _b.. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. [Dumbing Down = Goals 2000] Get control of teachers' associations. [PTA] Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policy making positions. [textbook press _c.]

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures. [The media reeks of these goals and the 'party lines'.]

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms." [Produce & promote 'degrading & obscene' MUSIC, cartoons & movies to harm our children.] [#21 & #23]

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. "Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art." [NEA]

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press. [ACLU & ALA in public & school libraries encourage obscenity to harm our children.][Schools should not be free speech zones.]

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV. [ textbooks]['Break down [family] standards of morality'] [MTV, cable & "R" rated trash.]

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy." [Condom & prostitution based Sex Ed. vs. abstinence which is ALWAYS 100% effective.] [Who needs biological warfare agents when deadly plagues like HIV-AIDs & incurable STD's are so easy to proliferate, so easy to destroy physically, mentally & spiritually.] [ diversity = perversity.]

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch." [i.e. destroy God's vision for his children.]

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state." [ This was a reality after the Court perjurously invented the "separation of church and state" in Everson v Bd. Ed 1947. Note: Engel v. Vitale, 82 S. Ct.1261 (1962) & Schempp, 374 U.S. 203 (1963), see (#16)]_c. , _d.

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over. [#29 & #30]

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture--education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc. [ e.g. the unconstitutional Federal Dept. of Education, funding, et. al.]

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities. [Make anti-American, white collar terrorism & perjury OK!]

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions. [Most of the NEA & AFT policies are anti child, anti parent & anti family.]

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business. [Is it a stretch to think that a $40 Billion company like Disney which owns ABC (#20; #21;#25), promotes "Gay Days"(#26) and Domestic Partner Benefits (#26; #40) would expect families to attend their theme parks and buy their products & stocks?] [Consider: the NFL which funds the United Way which funds homosexuals & pedophiles (#26) which infiltrate schools, businesses & Boy Scouts!][Yahoo.com (#26)] [ Sacrificing our kids for career & money!] ['Infiltrate and gain control of' associations (#17): AARP, AMA, ABarA, NOW, APA (#39 ; #41),PFAW, etc.]

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand. [HHS - HRS kidnap children from parents without due process.]

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals. [Ex-Surgeon General J. Elders wanted to make illegal drugs legal & fry our children's brains.]

40. Discredit the family _d. as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce. [no fault!] [The divorced child's sense of security is diminished and harmed for the rest of his life.]

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents. [Corrupt parental: authority, possession & rights. (#39.)]

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use united force to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike."

What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?
-- Thomas Jefferson

I truely pray that the good citizens of the great state of California would reign in their government soon. By this I mean throw out, via election turn-out and then results, the rebels who have talked their way into your good graces. All three branches of your soverign state are corrupt and not worthy of your support.

I believe we could speak so of other states in our union. I do believe that the time has come for more of the good people to let themselves be heard. Too much it happens that we expect others to "take care of things" but this will not due. We see time and time again those who disrespect our trust in them. We will not act until it hurts bad enough. This time is now.

The silent majority needs to rise up and make their intentions known. We will not sit back any longer while our children are sexualized by perverts posing as authority figures. We will not allow the neo-cons to continue to rip away the fabric of the family unit.

The most powerful force in any free society is that of the family unit. Michael Poast

It was hundreds and hundreds of years ago, before the first millennium AD, that Icelandic voyagers like Eric the Red, Leif the lucky, and Thorwald took upon themselves the raging seas of the North-Atlantic. They were the bravest and most adventuresome sailors in their world. Keen and skillful, strong and fearless, these men were the first, it is thought, to take on the challenge westward for a new world.

During the next five-hundred years there are other names, and other races and, other societies we can read about, who would lay claim to the grand search for the “New-World.” Seated in this staunch room of historic giants are titles such as Columbus, Magellan, Drake, and Amerigo Vespuchi (for whom America was named). These men were brave and very determined for the glory in their discoveries. They would let nothing get in their way. Their motivation for setting sail and risking the weather, and the malnutrition, and the mutiny, was one of conquest. And proof of the existence of a place that was new and beautiful. They were chasing their egos.

These brave men, while camparing them to the “righteousness” of today’s standards would bring them public ridicule and guaranteed appearance before a world court, were the heroes and legends of their societies. They should be given the respect due, based on their level of wisdom and the paradigms of the day. Those to follow their Viking and conquistador predecessors came not to simply claim the land, but more importantly to put loose their minds. “The human mind will be let loose, it must be loosed.” T. Jefferson.

The Pilgrims came for a higher purpose, they were not so much searching for something, as much as they were escaping from something. It is the same thing that many of us struggle to protect ourselves from still today. It has been a vice of the human condition since the very beginning, when Adam and Eve lost their privileges in the garden. It is what we will fight with, unless we mature spiritually, till we escape the clutches of our humanity.

Their Christian pilgrimage to the new world wisked them away from the tyranny of The Church of England, or The Anglican church. They saw an England that would not let them worship in the way that they knew necessary. So they took up their lives and set sail for the New World. They were hoping for a new life of freedom from the hardships of English rule. They, by their leadership, conviction to a worthy cause, and firmness of purpose set into motion a brush-fire of freedom-loving peoples who’s energies and passions still burn brightly today. It is these brave souls, and those who have carried the batton to the next generations, who deserve all of the glory and honor for what our experiment has provided to the minds and bodies of men. Freedom from the chains of an oppressive Government.
We are a people on a journey through the dark recesses of global oppression and tyranny. We are headed for the truth of the human condition, on this vessel of freedom called The USS America. A self-actuated challenge that comes with great struggles and turbulence, marked by attacks and confused rhetoric from those who have been unaware of our cause.
This has been the course of things since the first Man came upon the idea of liberty. He was bombarded with doubts of the resilience of a few good men assembled to take it upon themselves the struggles of self-government. A man, once given a taste of this liberty, will not part with it gently.

This was the mistake of September 11, 2001. This was the mistake of thousands before and the mistake of thousands to come. The mistake of thinking that We The People would stray from the central principals of our founding. Unfortunately for our aggressors, they are not familiar will the resilient attitude of a free people staid fast on the shoulders of giants.
We Americans will not become subdued by our world of focus groups and so-called experts. We will not lean in the direction of self-discrimination or excuse-making for our past actions. We will not believe the rhetoric, popularized by those who wish to destroy us, that our freedoms, and the logical progression of our precious liberties, in some way caused, or begged, or attracted, or asked for these atrocious, irresponsible and cowardice attacks. It is here that we, a cause 300 million and more strong, will endeavor to re-investigate why it was necessary to birth this place called America; why millions of pilgrims risked everything to breath the fresh air of freedom. Then, strengthened by our resolve, commit, once again, to defend Her at all costs.

The American experiment has many far-flung enemies nestled deep in the arteries of her defense, growth and protection. September 11 revealed to us just one of Her foes. This enemy is not the most dangerous. Now we train a sharp eye upon our liberties, knowing they will be swept from under us if we don’t. We are the artisans of freedom and will not be cold-cocked with out justice.

Thomas Jefferson has warned us throughout the centuries that, “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance,“ We will endeavor toward the refiring and rebirth of American society. We will draw the sword of heartfelt justice in the protection of the universal doctrine of liberty. We will be vigilant in the protection of our friends and family, vigilant in the protection of our land and economy, vigilant in the protection of our beliefs and freedoms and liberties. We will stand up as a united, morally-bound people, resilient in our duty to preserve The Republic.

It may be brazen and crude, but it is just to thank our enemy for the sudden, fervent unity we see sweeping the land. There is nothing more potent a catalyst to ignighting the enthusiasm of a team than a worthy adversary. I know there are some Americans who, before the 11th, were fearful of the lazy, misinformed, anti-American ideas running across the fruited plain. We have awakened that creative, energetic, rugged westerner who embodies the genius that has been running about the Land of The Free since her inception. This is the beginning of a new period of Americanism.

Thomas Jefferson said that “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants, an admonition made possible by the right to bear arms of parity with those of the standing army.” The blood of thousands of our patriots were just spilled and burned over thousands of miles of our union, and it is high time that we do our duty in protecting The Republic, grab our arms of parity, and spill the blood of tyrants. We go to refresh the tree of liberty.

We cannot idly sit back and leave others to do our job. We are charged with the awesome responsibility to remain a shinning beacon of hope and God-granted freedom for the whole world. We will stand tall to our challenge, with the deep understanding of our divine purpose; the protection of human interests and passions. Welcoming all who would join, and halting, by all necessary means, those who would keep us from our victories.

“Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, with conquering limbs astride from land to land; here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand a mighty woman with a torch, whose flame is the imprisoned lightning, and her name mother of exiles. From her beaconed-hand glows worldwide welcome; her mild eyes command the air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame. “Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she with silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, the temptest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
-inscription on the Statue of Liberty

In no other place on Earth is one welcomed into a society by the loan act of agreeing with its tenants. We are not only a great and powerful people, but also a peaceful people, only violent when greatly stirred to anger. We welcome all who will join with us in this gallery of freedom. Asian, Australian, European, African, Spanish or Scandinavian, by the sole embrace of our American ideals, you shed your chains of cultural divide and are released into our amber fields of freedom. This is our heart-beat, the heart-beat of the American spirit, the essence of Her magic. If you would come to live in peace, I welcome you my brother.
We will now rise above the petty differences, meaningless words, and unfruitful events, to relinquish the fire that is our American spirit. Knowing the cause and the duty of
Americanism, available to all, forced upon none. We will now search deep within ourselves and pull out that long lost child, unafraid to wave the flag, and actively show the passionate love we have for our masterpiece of freedom. It is now the time that we will remember the special canvas of government of which we the people are the artists.

Gouverneur Morris, delegate to the convention from NY had these words to say, “I anticipate the day when to command respect in the remotest regions it will be sufficient to say I am an American. Our flag shall then wave in glory over the ocean and our commerce feel no restraint but what our own government may impose.”

To a large degree we are less free than when we started. We have allowed our government to become too oppressive and too large. To our credit, however, we have still maintained a large national output and world wide acclaim, power and respect. Although we deserve a huge amount of credit for being able to hold onto a republic for this long, most of the credit still belongs to our founders.

On his way out of the constitutional convention, Benjamin Franklin was asked by a young lady, as was her custom throughout the convention, “What have you done for us today Mr. Franklin?” He answered in his stately manner, “We have given you a republic, if you can keep it.” What he said to her in that moment speaks volumes. It tells of the founding generation’s belief in humanity, of their forethought and analysis of the human spirit, and a warning to us to not be weary in well doing.

The protective literature of freedom, The U. S. Constitution, was not written to be left unread and unknown by the very persons it shields. It was, in fact imagined, throughout its construction, to be used and to be tested, to be questioned and praised for its vision. Of the constitution, Madison said, “thus it is of a complicated nature; and this complication, I trust, will be found to exclude the evils of absolute consolidation, as well as of a mere confederacy...” It is a living and breathing force by which the hands of men should be guided.

We are a Government of laws, not of men; we do not run off on idle tangents, wandering through the mists of confusion and emotional constructs whenever we are faced with a disagreement. We are led by the words of our founders to seek guidance in The Constitution, from where all justice flows. It’s denotation is freedom.

It is often said of those who cannot or will not remember the past, that they are condemned to repeat it. It is vital to our security, and to the liberty and comfort of our posterity, that we remember both the facts and the emotions of these awesome and important times. The emotions, though, are more important than the facts and events that inevitably will proceed from this point. By disqualifying the emotions we secure our ticket onto the train of comfort, and security, and less responsibility, and immediate gratification, and microwave mentality. We will then invite the wolves into our schoolhouses and televisions and web pages. It is true that these blood thirsty experts will have freshly tailored, sheep’s wool suits on, but make no mistake, they will most decidedly enter into your towns and your homes and your minds intending to instruct future generations that these days were much different than the stories we will tell in the tomorrow’s of our faded detail.

An inscription on the wall of the Chinatown history project in New York City says:
“It is true that history cannot satisfy our appetite when we are hungry, nor keep us warm when the cold wind blows. But is also true that if younger generations do not understand the hardships and the triumphs of their elders, then we will be a people without a past. As such we will be like water without a source, a tree without roots.”

When we have our revised history lesson secured firmly in our cortex, we will have lost for our children all that our forefathers fought for, thought for, and taught for. It is then that the dream will be over and the chains of tyranny will squeeze tighter upon the treasure of freedom

The United States of America is an experiment. This hybrid republic had never been attempted. We are “practicing government” like a doctor, or a dentist or a lawyer practices their craft. We are practicing the art of freedom. America: The practitioners of freedom, we should cry. The founders were very concerned that this, like republics of the past, would crumble stone by precious stone onto the floor of used political ideas. Other models of government looked old and drab to our founders; they had already proven themselves to be too oppressive.

Our founders chose a Federal Republic to secure our freedoms and protect us from the government they were to install. They told us to keep a watch and to keep a good heart and the experiment will be a success. It will succeed, its success being marked by the limit of government activity in private life, if its people remain vigilant and educated in the ways of rugged individualism. It is our job to take an active role in the processes of self-government.
We are moved to guardianship for we know that it is not the responsibility of government to remain non-intrusive, it is our responsibility to keep it at bay. It is the very nature of governmental bodies to search out, and apprehend power under the guise of safety. This is exactly why millions of people have risked the journey here even before it was called

America. Thomas Jefferson said, “the natural progression of things is for government to gain ground and for liberty to yield”. That is why we will stand united, undaunted by the oppressive power of governments, but strengthened by the resolve of a free people.
We produce security by the expansion of liberties. A government cannot be everywhere, but a free people with the power of self-government is everywhere that they are. To that end, the life and continuity of this society depends upon our involvement and friendship with one another. This is why we relinquish our guarding fears and talk with our neighbors. Getting to know the other delegates in our self-governing body. This is essential to the procurement of self government.

If we allow our government, coercive by nature, to set brother against brother, race against race, and class against class, then they have won. We may think that we can trust a man with that power, but, I assure you, even your mother will inebriate herself with that power. The sovereignty is with the people and the people will retain their sovereignty!
Governments, before the spirit of ‘76 took hold, were thought to have “created” their citizenry. For the first time in history it was stated that a citizenry creates its governments, for the sole purpose of protecting the people from its enemies, with power given to it by the people.

“That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government; laying its foundation on such principals and organizing its power in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.”
T. Jefferson

No matter where the enemy or what its design, it is, as stated in The Declaration of Independence and in The US Constitution, the US Government’s sole responsibility to protect the freedoms and liberties of Her sovereigns. This protection allows the people to be free to govern their own affairs, and families, and finances, and travel, and beliefs. Assuring, themselves, that within their self-governing style, they do not effect others ability to secure life and happiness; thereby giving the seat of government impetus to coerce away, slowly like one would boil a frog, the peoples’ essential liberties. These rights remain rights, so long as the people retain them.

Freedom requires great maturity and trust and responsibility. James Madison, celebrated as the father of the constitution, said, “if men were angels, government would not be necessary.” We know we are not angels and need to have laws to remind us of our civilized, self-imposed boundaries. Though we are not angels, we will endeavor to be moral and just. Immorality and lack of justice will not preserve our freedom, but will decay it. Edmund Burke said that, “the only way for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.” While we know throughout the journey of liberty, we will run and trip and fall. We will valiantly rise again to proclaim the glory of our duty to our posterity.

George Washington said, “Government is not reason, it is not eloquence - it is a force! Like fire it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master; never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.” It is incumbent upon We The People to train a watchful eye upon our government and be sure that it remains, as our founders intended, limited.

America is special and different, as Ronald Reagan said, it is a shinning city upon a hill for all to see and to follow and reach to, something toward which mankind should strive.
“It rests not with ourselves alone to enjoy in peace and concord the blessing of self-government, so long denied to mankind: to show by example the sufficiency of human reason for the care of human affairs and that will of the majority, the natural law of every society, as the only sure guardian of the rights of man”
-T. Jefferson

We will expand our liberties and leash our government. We will protect our liberties and increase our freedom. We will relish in the power the people have to guide the state. We will endeavor to expand our understanding of the natural state of man.

I imagine the largest detractor for people not wishing to protect their freedoms is a wounded self-image. We sometimes will not feel worthy enough to make tough decisions, or to take care of our own problems. But would rather an oppressive, insensitive gang of socialites have the power to reprimand us on how to live.

Those who would seek the power remind us of our need for them and how, lurking behind every corner, someone or something is out to get us, and that we need their protection so as to swage our fear. “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamored be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary”-H. L. Menkin.

Government is not an alley, it is the great enemy of a free people and should be treated as such. It is like having a highly trained bull dog. You keep it for safety, but you don’t dare let it off the chain. You should consider the US Constitution to be that strong chain. “In questions of power, then, let no more be said of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains the constitution”-T. Jefferson. Many thick, steely links keep the big dog off of the people. Thomas Payne said, “Government even in its best state is but a necessary evil, in its worst state, an intolerable one.”

I implore you, to become mindful of Governmental affairs and activities. Practice, for yourself, the art of freedom. Get out of your routines and vote, run for an office, or help someone run, or listen to those who are. You do not need to understand, or know every little detail of every second., simply make yourself aware. You do not need to be “politically mindful”, or morose about it. You certainly should not be anti-government or an anarchist, it is a necessary institution. A magnificent one when held to the designs of The Constitution. Simply be a passionate lover of liberty. A practitioner of the art of freedom.

Every thoughtful person who has taken the time to look past their emotions and fears and read a little bit into the educational history and directors of our founders, has concluded them to be wise beyond their years. A group of men found rarely in the passage of history, true artisans of liberty. Those who challenge themselves to seek out the facts are stunned, to awe, at the delicate vision employed during those founding years.
You see this is not a game to be watched every night on CNN. It is not a play toy that will soon run out of batteries and fall lifeless to the floor of history. It is one of the most serious and honored gifts you will every present to your children. The protection and expansion of liberties. “Science is my passion, politics my duty.”-T. Jefferson. No matter what your station in life, liberties and freedoms become very important when you are suddenly awakened to the realization that someone wishes to take away your right to think your own thoughts or to go your own direction.

We will not allow September 11, 2001 to be just another tragedy in the caverns of human suffering. We will not settle for misguided people teaching our children, and the learning public, revisionist history. We will remember the important events that brought us to this day, and honor the men and women who risk, and risked, more than we can even consider, so that we might have it a small bit easier. We will stand up as a reunited self-governing people and create, protect, and defend tomorrow’s enduring art freedom for our children’s children.

-We are original, not ordinary. To equate is to obliterate-

Serving God is doing good to man, but praying is thought an easier service and therefore more generally chosen.
-- Benjamin Franklin

I, along with the rest, am guilty of this too. We will travel through the day and indiscriminately shred our soul with the cruelty we dispense upon others. We then apologize to The Lord for our indiscretions, as if to make our hatred for thinking first an alright vice. Again, I am more speaking to myself here. Never-the-less it is abhorrent to imagine that we can build and maintain any free society if we are not to take a spec of self-control seriously. For, if we do not strive to be cordial to others our oppressive elected officials will step in with more of the laws we all love not to know about.

Madison said that, "if men were angels Government would not be necessary." I would not be so presumptuous as to suggest that we strive to be angels, just simply to be aware that those who travel about us during the day have needs, desires, fears and concerns that are equally as important and pressing as our own.

We have no claim to share in the glory of our ancestors unless we strive to resemble them.
-- Moliere

It is vital to our future as a people to maintain a healthy understanding of those who have come before us. It has been said by many great men before me that we are a Nation of laws, not of men. That is to say that there is no supreme man, nor group of men, who may rightfully rule by fiat. The Constitution of our in dissolvable union, which so rightfully deserves our reverence and edification this July 4, was designed in a very methodic and specific manner. It was meant, in a very general sense, to be a sort of framework or structure through which the engine of the Government, the people, could effectively govern themselves in their local arena, the most important element being the judicious dissemination of the tyrannical rage of ambition.

We have come to a place in our political history where our Government at every level, in every branch, in every State, City and local building is populated by greedy, ambitious power hungry men and women lacking even a sophomoric level of vision or principal. They continue to conspire at regular intervals to set their constituents up in an arena of hatred and fear of the world around them, thereby leading the body politic from the age-old custom of “keeping up with the Jones’” to the present day fad of a fever-pitched fear of the Jones.’

It would be simple here to resort to naming names and assigning blame, even bringing individuals up on charges and recalling office holders. I prefer a more positive approach. Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration refers to a “History of repeated injuries and usurpations” enacted by King George upon the colonies. The whole document leading to the end of the people being sick and tired of asking others to take care of their needs for them and were going to take matters into their own hands and set a course to, “Dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another.” This right of the people to amputate themselves from their unprofitable associations is not just a right, but more important, it is a duty that any free people have to their posterity to secure their unalienable right to the blessings of Liberty.

I would not be so bold as to propose a full-blown revolution in the streets, but I would that it were in our hearts and in our minds. I, Mike Poast, your faithful servant, have climbed to the summit of the proverbial mountain top to call for a resurgence of the spirit of ‘76, 1776 that is. Shall we, the Citizens of the greatest political experiment in the history of Man, relearn our identity, our purpose? What is Democracy, Republicanism, Liberalism? They are not political parties. What is the benefit of Federalism, the definition of a State? What is the meaning of Liberty, Sovereignty? What are the characteristics of an efficient and growing market economy?

The correct answers to these questions represent a very basic level of knowledge for a productive and contributing Citizen. So this July 4 between the parade and the fireworks join me with a hotdog and a cold beer for a reading of the oldest and shortest constitution in the history of The World.
